Are you wondering what to do in Mykonos in 3 days? Well, I’ve spent time traveling Greece on two trips and one of those trips included 3 days in Mykonos! This popular island in Greece is easy to visit, has beautiful beaches and works as as great launching pad for other less visited Greek islands!
This itinerary covers the top things to do in Mykonos and ensures you make the most of your visit! This guide is designed as a full Mykonos itinerary, perfect for planning your 3 days on the island, so let’s explore this famous Greek island.
DAY ONE | Self Drive Around the Island
Start Your 3 Days in Mykonos
My first full day in Mykonos, my friend and I spent driving around the island. I opted to rent a four wheeler similar to what I did in my 3 days in Santorini trip! A car might be a better option if you’re in Mykonos during the busy tourist season. However, we were there end of September, so the island wasn’t as crowded.
We rented the ATV through our hotel and drove around the island. However, if you like the idea of an ATV but prefer a tour, consider Rent an ATV/QUAD 450cc and explore mykonos, on wheels. Beaches
I’m a beach girl through and through. Maybe being born on an island (Barbados) or growing up in Florida, it’s just part of my DNA somehow, but I love a beach. Looking at it, relaxing on it, swimming in the ocean, admiring, boating. Doesn’t really matter, I love it all!
So hearing Mykonos has some of the best beaches in Greece, I had to check them out during my three days in Mykonos! On the last day of this Mykonos itinerary, there will be time to relax on a beach, so this is a good day to scout out your options!
I had booked a hotel on the beach for my last night in Mykonos, so my friend and I checked out Paralia Platis Gialos. This beach was beautiful, which made me excited for our final day on the island! We also stopped at Kalafati Beach.
Consider checking out Paradise Beach and if you wanted to stop for a bite or drink Tropicana Beach Bar – Restaurant is a good option on the beach. Also checkout Kapari Beach for a beautiful, untouched beach.
We continued driving and rode by Agios Sostis Beach, only admiring it from the road. This was on the way to the Lighthouse, which was a priority stop for us.
Overall, there are plenty of beaches to visit, but prioritize as you can easily get around the island in a day, but you will need to manage your time to get it all in!

Lighthouse
We rode to the Armenistis Lighthouse, enjoyed the view and took photos! The lighthouse is charming and the area is beautiful! Take some time to walk around and snap photos. I know I’m a sucker for ocean views of all types, but the sea depth here lends to this beautiful deep blue.
Small Town
My friend and I stopped at this little town in the middle of the island, but it was basically dead. It’s probably more alive during the busy tourism season or maybe just earlier in the day, but there was not much open when we got there around 3PM.
Either way, Ano Mera is a cute little stop. If it’s dead, you can take some good photos before moving on. If it’s lively, walk around, grab a bite to eat and take it in.
Farm
I loved this little farm and I absolutely recommend checking it out! It’s one of my favorite things to do in Mykonos. This Mykonos Vioma Organic Farm is a small, unassuming farm with a cafe and a “tourists made famous” donkey.
We rolled up around 4PM with no reservation. They offered a free tour of the farm, which we joined. However, you are welcome to walk around a bit on your own as well.
My favorite part was the halva I ordered! I absolutely loved it! My friend got some wine I think, but desserts are a win for me! Both my friend and I loved this little farm, so I definitely think it’s worth checking out.
Their website says they are closed from November to April, but if you are in Mykonos any other time, I think it’s worth visiting! You don’t have to stay long, but it’s kind of a nice change from the touristy areas and is in my top recs for what to do in Mykonos in 3 days.
Sunset
When island hopping in Greece, definitely take in the sunsets! If you don’t want to be driving around in the dark, plan a place close to where you are staying to watch the sunset on this day.
We stayed on top of a hill somewhat close to Mykonos town, so for our first night, we took in the sunset close to where we were staying! It’s a simple pursuit, but one of the top things to do in Mykonos!
Dinner in Mykonos Town
Now that you’ve spent the day exploring Mykonos, grab some dinner in town! We stayed close as I read the majority of restaurants and things to do revolve around town. I can confirm that is true!
Mykonos town is full of restaurants with varying price points, styles and cuisine options. If you visit during busy season, consider booking reservations to keep dinners on your Mykonos itinerary smooth.
DAY TWO | Tour of Rhenia and Delos
A Must for Any Mykonos Itinerary
For our second of your three days in Mykonos, I loved this day trip to Delos and Rhenia! This tour is one of the best things to do in Mykonos, and it’s smart to book it early in your trip in case inclement weather forces rescheduling.
It was a highlight of our 3 days in Mykonos even though the weather was windier and cooler than an ideal boat day.

Rhenia
The tour starts by heading to Rhenia Island. I was in Mykonos end of September, so it wasn’t swimming weather in my opinion. Of course, I prefer a warm ocean and the Sea in this area doesn’t really warm up enough for me regardless of the time of year.
However, the boat stays here a while, so if you’re interested, you can swim around and to the island! Even though I didn’t swim, the color of the water here is absolutely stunning! The most beautiful aqua I have ever seen! It was mesmerizing!
Delos
Eventually, we sailed over to the historical site on Delos. Whether the time of year or maybe it was this particular day I was there, this sail was incredibly windy! However, the trip wasn’t super long.
Delos island is so fascinating and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site! You will have to pay the entry, but we were given a tour with some history of the island before exploring on our own.
Delos was regarded as the mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, which made it a major religious center. It also became a thriving commercial and cultural hub around the 7th century BC! So it’s safe to say this island has history! The Avenue of the Lions definitely stood out among the rubble and is probably the most famous image from this island.
Overall, I thought this island was very interesting. Even though we were cold from the wind during the sailing and Rhenia portion of the tour, this island was hot! Keep that in mind because depending on the time of year you are in Mykonos it would be even hotter!

Dinner and Sunset in Mykonos Town
I recommend booking a reservation to enjoy the sunset during dinner in Mykonos. Even though I was there during the shoulder season and it was way less crowded, the prime spots to watch the sunset were booked.
While we were able to eat at the restaurant, we didn’t get the prime sunset view. When the couple left, I quickly snapped a photo before new guests were brought out.
We ended up at Katerina’s Restaurant & Cocktail Bar and overall enjoyed our meal! If you weren’t able to get a reservation with a view of the sunset, but don’t want to miss it, you can head to the Church of Panagia Paraportiani. Another option I bookmarked that is worth checking out is Semeli Bar, Little Venice.
Little Venice at Night
After dinner, we enjoyed Little Venice in Mykonos Town. While we would be coming back to Mykonos Town in the morning to explore in the daylight, we enjoyed the charm of this area after dinner. The lights reflecting on the water and the sound of the Sea is so peaceful.
DAY THREE | Mykonos Town and Relax on a Beach
Perfect Final Day in Mykonos
On the last day of our Mykonos itinerary, we will be exploring Mykonos Town and relaxing on a beach!
While I booked a hotel on the beach for the last day, you can elect to simply utilize a beach club. Either way, you’ve spent some time exploring the island, enjoyed a day trip, so what’s left is Mykonos Town in the daylight and some relaxing.
Of course, if relaxing on a beach isn’t for you, I’ve provided some other day trip options below.
Explore Mykonos Town
You’ve already spent some time in Mykonos Town for dinners, but coming here in the morning will allow you to really enjoy it in the daylight, walk the shops, and take in all the sights.
Let’s start at theThe Mykonos Windmills which are probably one of the most iconic sights on Mykonos. You don’t need to spend long here, but they are too iconic to miss.
Wander over to Little Venice and admire it in the sunshine! It’s a beautiful area with the water coming right to the buildings. If you ate in Little Venice the night before to watch the sunset, you now get to view it from a different angle and really take it in.
Another iconic sight is the Church of Panagia Paraportiani. If you didn’t come here for sunset already, take some time to explore it.
Last main thing I definitely recommend in Mykonos Town is to wander the shops along Matogianni Street. Whether you buy some souvenirs or just window shop, this street is that adorable, quintessential Greek town experience making it one of the tops things to do in Mykonos.
My friend and I enjoyed exploring the town, taking pictures, and shopping for several hours! If you’re here during high season, try and time it to avoid the crowds for a more pleasant experience.

Relax at a Beach Club or Book a Stay on the Beach
We Booked a Stay on the Beach
My friend and I took a Ferry to Tinos and stayed there a couple of days. When we returned, we stayed at the beach allowing us time to relax. Of course, the time of year we were in Mykonos isn’t the best “beach weather” but we really enjoyed the day of relaxing before our super early morning flight to Cyprus the next day.
We stayed at Acrogiali Beach Hotel and loved it. It’s very charming and the beach is so beautiful! The price was a third of what it would be in high season, which we also loved! It did rain for our relaxing day, so we rested inside for some of the day, but enjoyed the afternoon on the beach and walked around the area. There are some restaurants nearby that we walked to, but you will have considerably less options than in Mykonos Town.

Mykonos Beach Club Options
If you want to stay close town which offers way more restaurants and things to do in Mykonos, then you can simply enjoy the beach by utilizing beach clubs. However you go about it, enjoying a beach day is one of the top things to do in Mykonos.
Most beach clubs will have a minimum spend so keep that in mind when choosing. However, if you aren’t staying on the beach or just want to relax on a different beach, these are great options!

When planning what to do in Mykonos in 3 days, you want to consider where to stay! I recommend staying close to Mykonos Town as that is where most of the action is and then stay at the beach for one night to enjoy a day of relaxing!
Of course, you could find a hotel offering the best of both worlds or simply taxi to town. Just keep in mind that Mykonos Town is a place you will likely frequent for your first time in Mykonos.

Day Trip to Tinos Greece
I loved my two days in Tinos and was so happy it was part of my Greece trip overall! However, if you’re looking for more things to do, a day trip to Tinos would be a great addition to your Mykonos itinerary!
Tinos is only about a thirty minute ferry ride from Mykonos, so it’s very easy to go for the day! However, Tinos island is bigger than Mykonos, so it can fill a couple days easily if you want to spend a night or two there.
Self Drive Tinos
My friend and I walked to a nearby car rental office with our luggage once we arrived to the port. Vidalis Rent a Car – port office is very close to the port and an easy walk, especially if you don’t have luggage.
It’s worth noting in Tinos, they required me to have an International Driver’s License. I didn’t have one so I applied online while in the office. Since I have never needed one for the ATV’s in Santorini or Mykonos or any other car rental in Europe, I didn’t even consider it, but they required it!
There are plenty of scooter or car rental agencies within walking distance, so again this is a very easy self directed day trip. However, there are some tour options you can do once you are in Tinos.
Highlights tour on traditional villages
Holy Church
There is a famous church only eleven minutes on foot from the port. We saw people crawling from the port to the Holy Church of the Virgin Mary Evangelistria at Tinos and I found the demonstration of faith very impacting.
There are restaurants and shops on the way to the church, so it’s a good area to spend a couple hours before your afternoon or evening ferry back to Mykonos. You can return your car and just walk around and to the ferry when it’s time.

When to Visit Mykonos
My favorite time to visit Greece is during the shoulder season! April, May, September and October see less tourists with cooler temperatures for an overall great experience! I’ve had amazing travels in Santorini at the end of May and Mykonos end of September! Oh and I forgot to mention, you’ll see cheaper prices during the shoulder season as well!
If you want to swim in the Sea, then the high season of June through August is the best time to go! However, the Sea doesn’t really warm up by my standards, but it’s so hot that cooling off in the water is welcomed!
- April–May: Spring weather, mild but still cool in the evenings. Ideal for sightseeing and quieter visits.
- June–August: Hot summer weather, with plenty of sunshine. Perfect for beach activities, but can be crowded.
- September–October: Still warm, with fewer crowds. A great time for those who want warm weather, but not super hot and without the peak-season hustle.
How to Get to Mykonos
The great news about Mykonos is it’s one of the easiest islands to visit! If you’re short on time, I definitely recommend flying into Mykonos.
I booked a flight from London to Mykonos direct! Taking a ferry is another option! If you are coming from Santorini or even another island, then the ferry is probably your best and only option.
I took the ferry to and from Tinos. While that journey is very short, it was a very comfortable experience! Since Mykonos is such a popular island to visit, it will have plenty of options compared to some of the other Greek Islands.
How to Get Around Mykonos
Getting around Mykonos is relatively easy, with several transportation options to suit different preferences and budgets. Mykonos Town is very walkable, and many attractions, shops, restaurants, and bars are within a short walking distance.
For traveling around the island, the public bus system is a convenient and affordable option, with routes connecting popular beaches, Mykonos Town, and other key areas. The buses, especially during the summer season, and are an easy choice for those looking to explore on a budget. Taxi services are also available and what my friend and I used to and from the airport and port when we had our luggage with us.
To explore Mykonos at your own pace, rent an ATV or car. I recommend doing this for at least one day! It’s easy to get around and fun to have full freedom to explore Mykonos! We just organized the ATV through our hotel, so you don’t have to plan ahead for this option.

Travel Insurance
I don’t always buy extra travel insurance. It’s worth checking what your credit card offers when it comes to insurance as well as your car insurance. For instance, I don’t buy extra car insurance when renting because my car insurance and credit card offers protection.
When I went on a solo island hopping trip to Fiji, I did buy travel insurance with health considerations being the main motivation (I had broken a bone the year before). This offered some extra peace of mind but thankfully I never needed it. The other benefit is travel insurance usually includes some type of trip protection as well!
If you want to look into travel insurance options, check Insubuy and VisitorsCoverage Travel insurance to shop around. If you plan to do certain sports or activities, make sure it’s covered. For instance, in Fiji I was planning to do a bull shark dive so I made sure scuba diving was covered!
