Florida Travel.
Florida has been home for most of my life, and I still find new reasons to love it. Raised here after moving from Barbados, I traded an island lifestyle for a peninsula with two seasons — Summer and not Summer.
Florida’s long summers, year-round outdoor adventures, and endless coastline make it one of the best places to live and explore. From the crystal-clear springs of Central Florida to the coral reefs of the Keys, the charming streets of St. Augustine to the laid-back beach towns in between, this is my home state! I know it well, but I’m still exploring.

Florida Travel FAQs

When is the best time to visit Florida?
Florida is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on your priorities. For warm weather without the summer humidity, aim for March to May. Winter is also great if you’re escaping the cold — just know it’s high season in many areas.
Do I need a car to get around Florida?
Yes, especially if you’re planning to explore beyond major cities. Public transport is limited, so renting a car is the easiest way to reach beaches, springs, and small towns.
Are Florida’s beaches safe for solo travelers?
Absolutely — Just take basic safety precautions, like not leaving valuables on the sand, basing yourself near lifeguards and checking for warning flags.
What should I pack for Florida?
Think light layers, sun protection, and swimwear year-round. You’ll also want insect repellent for spring and summer, and a light jacket if visiting in winter. I have a full Florida packing list with seasonal tips!
