It can be very overwhelming trying to make healthy choices, since there seems to be so many opinions out there! This list is not meant to be a burden. These 11 easy health wins you can try this week are meant as a starting point where you can try one or two and see how it works for you.

Some are free and some are an investment, but you can look at your own habits and situation and decide what might be a good one for you to try. The journey toward health is about making small changes that eventually add up.

I hope one of these inspire you to give it a try in a way that works for you! These have helped me, but you and I are different, so not every option may work for you. Let’s dive into 11 easy health wins you can try this week.

1 Geviti

This is definitely one of the easy health wins you can try this week, but it’s not the cheapest! However, if you’re wanting a tailored program that coaches you and offers supplements at cost that are based on your blood work, then Geviti is worth looking into!

I’m now two and half months into this program and feeling better than I have in a while! It’s so nice to have insight through blood work, a coach to help guide you, and it all be a more holistic approach, which I prefer.

If you aren’t ready to commit to a personalized program like this, that’s okay! Some of my tips came from advice I received in the program that I think are a great place to start! However, if you want to read more about my experience with this program, I did a Geviti review.

2 Sunlight Exposure (circadian rhythm + mood)

I was going to focus on morning sunlight, but lately I’ve been hearing so many good things about sunlight in general! In my solo trip to Fiji, I was super jet-lagged, but watching the sunset was a game changer and I enjoyed the rest of my trip with no issues! So it’s safe to say any sunlight has positive effects!

Now, yes, you should consider HOW much sun you are getting, but the reality is most of us aren’t anywhere close to getting enough sun! Most Americans are vitamin D deficient and sunlight is one easy way to remedy that problem. I thought living in Florida I was getting enough sun, but my blood work said otherwise so now I take a Vitamin D3 and K2 supplement as well.

Sunlight really impacts a lot including giving you better sleep, boosts your mood and energy! I think of beach days as child and how well I slept that night! Grounding and being in the sun has so many benefits and it’s FREE! It’s FREE to put your feet in the grass or on the sand and it’s FREE to get in the sunshine.

I have a hard time getting up for the sunrise, especially on nights when I work on my laptop later than I should! However, I try to get in a morning walk, which I find really helps! Also, when I’m looking at screens too much, I’ve noticed going outside at any time of day resets my eyes! It’s amazing! Do what you can, and I think this is one of the best easy health wins you can try this week!

While different climates and times of year may make this difficult for some. An easy health win you can try would be red light therapy, though it’s not free.

Here are just some of the benefits of sunlight:

  • Boosts mood → triggers the release of serotonin, which helps improve overall happiness and reduce stress.
  • Supports circadian rhythm → morning light helps regulate your body’s internal clock, making it easier to fall asleep at night and wake up refreshed.
  • Improves sleep quality → by stimulating melatonin production later in the day, sunlight exposure leads to deeper, more restful sleep.
  • Enhances vitamin D production → supports bone health, immune function, and hormone balance.
  • Increases alertness & focus → morning light signals to the brain that it’s time to be awake, which improves concentration and energy levels.
  • Supports eye health → moderate exposure to natural light (especially early morning/late afternoon) is linked to reduced risk of nearsightedness.
  • Balances hormones → natural light helps regulate cortisol and other hormones tied to energy, stress, and metabolism.

3 Blue Light Blocking Glasses

You might be thinking, this doesn’t sound like it should make a list for easy health wins you can try this week, but hear me out! I listened to a podcast episode not long ago about circadian rhythm, natural light and how horrible blue light is to our circadian rhythm at night.

I get a lot of work done after dinner and into the night, so I bought a cheap pair of blue light blocking glasses. The guy on the podcast said they should be orange for at night, so I made sure they were orange lenses.

I woke up the next day and my HRV made a big jump (for me) in that first night! The second night I knew my HRV would go down because it was a weight training day, but it only went down a little! I still can’t believe the connection of blue light and heart rate variability (HRV)!

In this article, Blue Light and Heart Rate Variability | The Surprising Way I Boosted My HRV Overnight, I go into more detail, but I’m still surprised how that small change affected me.

One easy health win you can make this week is to just get rid of blue light at night! And for the rest of us that can’t fully get rid of it, then blue light blocking glasses will help!

4 Savory Breakfast

One of the adjustments I was advised to make by my Geviti coach was to ensure my breakfast is savory! She also told me to add some veggies to my breakfast, which at first seemed like such a difficult task.

Well, I listened! I traded out my protein pancakes and began eating eggs, cauliflower rice, and sometimes added ground beef. I’ll usually also add a small amount of Greek yogurt and some blueberries.

It took a few weeks to really notice a difference, but it worked! Overall, I feel more stable and don’t wake up in the morning completely ravenous! I do plan to wear a continuous glucose monitor for a couple weeks soon, just to make any additional small changes needed, but I’m shocked just changing my breakfast has made such a big impact!

Soon after I started enjoying a savory breakfast and ensured I was getting veggies in each meal, including breakfast, I came across the Glucose Goddess. She mentions different hacks to stabilize your glucose levels and one is a savory breakfast! I’m enjoying her book now called Glucose Revolution, or you can hear her talk about her 10 hacks on YouTube: The 10 Glucose Goddess Hacks: easy tricks that will change how you feel forever | Episode 3 of 18.

She offers more hacks if changing your breakfast seems daunting at the moment. However, I think it’s worth starting there! It’s one of the best easy health wins you can try this week!

5 Eat More Vegetables + Eat Them First

The other thing my Geviti coach recommended that also ended up being one of the hacks in the Glucose Revolution is to eat veggies at every meal and eat them first! I had already been eating veggies at lunch and dinner (had to start adding them to my breakfast), but I didn’t know eating them first would make a difference!

I don’t have data on this for myself yet, but it is something I want to watch when I wear a continuous glucose monitor for a couple weeks. Eating veggies first prevents a glucose spike per the Glucose Goddess.

My Geviti coach mentioned eating veggies and protein first and instructed me to eat carbs last. While I have no hard data on this, I have felt much more stable and have less of a need for snacks. I’m sure supplements have helped as my thyroid was also an issue on the blood work, but making this small tweak of eating veggies, then protein and fats, with the carbs being consumed last has definitely played a role!

Of all the easy health wins you can try this week, this has to be one of the easiest! Eat in this order: Vegetables -> Protein/Fats -> Carbohydrates and see how you feel!

Note: In Glucose Revolution, Jessie Inchauspé mentions that if you have diabetes, these dietary changes can sometimes create rapid effects. It’s best to try them under your doctor’s supervision.

6 Water Filter

I’ve used a Brita or Pur filter for years and only recently upgraded! While I love living in Florida, the tap water tastes awful! It probably is awful, but I haven’t tested it yet.

With wanting to remove hindrances to my health, I thought it might be time to upgrade my water filter system. Additionally, I’m meal prepping for my mother who had a stroke back in February and so far I’ve gotten her glucose levels lowered by 79 points! She still has more to go, but I figured I could take her some of this filtered water as well!

So I purchased a Bluevua RO Reverse Osmosis water filter. You can get reverse osmosis systems for under your sink or even for your whole house, but the most affordable option is a countertop model, which is what I chose. I’ve been using it about four weeks and so far I’m loving it!

If you live somewhere with decent water, then this is not necessary! Florida tap water tastes terrible, so I’ve used a filter of some kind for years and decided to upgrade. If you are considering a countertop reverse osmosis system, the Bluevua RO Reverse Osmosis water filtration system is worth considering!

7 Track Your Health Metrics

It’s one thing to hear someone say blue light affects your circadian rhythm and another thing to actually see the data! I have loved wearing my Garmin vivoactive 5 watch and monitoring my health statistics.

The metric I watch the most is heart rate variability (HRV), but I also monitor my heart rate, track my workouts and steps, and pay attention to my quality of sleep at night. This is how I realized the positive impact of avoiding blue light at night. It’s also how I can consider if certain foods affect my sleep or if the workout was too much!

There are so many options for monitoring your metrics these days, but if you’re interested, I did do a Garmin vivoactive 5 review. I recommend the Garmin watch, but if you already own an apple watch or some other device, then just start paying attention to your statistics.

8 Weight Training

Weight training may not seem like it should be one of the easy health wins you can make this week, but it has so many benefits! I’ve always worked out since quitting soccer as a teen, but I haven’t always done weight training. After breaking a couple bones in recent years, I knew I needed to make a change.

Weight training strengthens bones, helps with blood glucose levels, improves energy and metabolism and it’s even been shown to help your brain! Every podcast I’ve listened to mentions the benefits of weight training for all ages! It’s so important and I’ve even started my mother on a weight training routine!

If you’re just starting out, keep it simple! Even a couple times a week will offer benefits. You don’t have to sweat or kill yourself like you do with a HIIT workout to see improvements, so it’s actually really accessible!

There are endless workout options out there, but if you’re feeling overwhelmed and don’t want to pay, consider Caliber. They have a paid option, but the free option works great. You can design your own workout (or have chatgpt help you) or use their built in AI to create a routine.

It’s all about progressive overload, so start slow! I keep it easy for my mother, and ensure it’s not too much. In my workouts, I try to push myself a little, but not too much. I’ve definitely been known to overdo it and right now, reversing Hashimoto’s has me painfully aware of the negative effects of overdoing it.

I started my mother on weight training because it has so many benefits and is truly a low hanging fruit to start and see results! If you can only pick one from this list, I’d say this is one of the best and easy health wins you can try this week! Start small with what you can do, no need to overdo it and progress slowly.

Here are some of the benefits of weight training:

  • Builds muscle & strength → supports everyday movement, improves posture, and helps prevent injuries.
  • Boosts metabolism → muscle burns more calories at rest than fat, which can support weight management.
  • Improves bone density → reduces risk of osteoporosis and fractures as you age.
  • Supports joint health → strengthens the muscles around joints, improving stability and mobility.
  • Balances hormones → can help regulate insulin, cortisol, and sex hormones, supporting energy and mood.
  • Enhances mental health → releases endorphins that reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression.
  • Increases energy → regular strength training often leads to less fatigue and more stamina.
  • Improves sleep quality → resistance training has been shown to help with deeper, more restorative sleep.
  • Supports healthy aging → preserves muscle mass, balance, and independence into later years.
  • Boosts confidence → seeing progress in strength and physique is motivating and empowering.

9 Food Sensitivities

I am in the process of reversing Hashimoto’s, which is a thyroid condition. One of the things I learned is that it’s usually triggered by two to three things. My Geviti health coach told me to cut gluten, which I learned is a common food sensitivity for Hashimoto’s.

After cutting gluten, which was only my protein pancakes in my normal day to day, I soon realized coffee really aggravated me! I love coffee, but opted to cut it because it was now clear my body is sensitive to it.

It’s amazing to me how much better I feel! Even though I only drank one cup in the morning, it was brutal weening myself off of coffee! However, now I feel so much better and my gut is much happier with me!

You may not need to cut gluten or coffee, but figuring out what food sensitivities you have can be such a game changer! I really thought allergies were the only thing to consider, and since I don’t have any I thought I was good. However, you can be sensitive to a food that is negatively impacting your gut, which then negatively impacts your health.

I knew my body was inflamed but I didn’t realize how inflamed until I quit coffee. Even my knee is feeling better just by addressing a couple foods that could be triggering inflammation. I’m not sure if gluten is a true issue, but I do know coffee had to go! Even though I miss it, I feel so much better!

Tune into your body more this week and consider making edits if need be. This can be one of the easy health wins you can make this week that could have a huge impact!

10 Purifier the Air

I did buy an air filter recently, but it hasn’t identified any hazardous air. However, it was years ago when I realized plants can cleanse the air that I become a plant lady. With all the time I’m putting into helping my mother, I’m happy most of my plants are still alive, but it’s been tough keeping track.

Despite my failures, I still have Aloe (one died), a blooming Peace Lily, a snake plant and multiple pothos as well as other plants all around my place! If I was to advise which ones to start with I’d say Snake and Pothos as both have been easy to maintain and Pothos is super easy to propagate.

I purchased the WINIX A231 Air Purifier for my bedroom several months ago. While I don’t run it much during the day because I’m already paying too much for my AC in the summer, I do run it at night. I like that it has a night feature which puts it on a low setting and the lights go off so they won’t disturb my sleep. It’s affordable as well and if you’re not wanting to keep up with plants then it’s a great option.

Whether you choose an air purifier, plants, or both, it’s so good to have clean air to breath! Of course, nothing replaces getting fresh air in your lungs everyday and vitamin D from sunshine and both of those are free! Whichever route you take, this is one of the easy health wins you can try this week.

11 Switching to Glass Food Storage (reduce microplastics/BPA)

The information coming out on microplastics is disturbing! Then there’s the waste piling up at landfills and in our oceans of plastic that is not biodegradable. Regardless of the reason that motivates, using glass more and plastic less is a good thing.

If you have young kids or other reasons that make plastic the best option right now, this is not meant to cause shame. There are seasons or situations where it makes sense. However, it’s worth switching to glass when you can!

I’ve been focused lately on cutting down even using a water bottle. There are also glass containers I’ve been using to store my reverse osmosis water in the fridge to help cool me off on a Florida summer day.

Between storing my leftovers, meal preps, and water in glass, I feel a lot of peace of mind. There are times plastic does make sense, but for the most part I’ve switched to glass. As a whole, this is one of the easy health wins you can try this week that is also inexpensive, avoids micro plastics getting into your food and helps the environment a bit more.
